Our lives are filled with loud noises- constant bombarding of rings, dings, and bleeps. Noises that make us jump to attention, race to pick up our noise maker and get the latest information at our fingertips. Our nervous systems are under constant stress. Our hearts are constantly racing, our minds are unsettled, and it seems that no one sleeps well.
Have you heard of restorative yoga? Restorative yoga is designed to calm the nervous system, relax the mind, and allow the body to rest. In restorative yoga we come to just a few different supported positions and be STILL. The positions are structured to gently open the body (think- back bend, forward bend, twist, etc) while being completely supported with blankets, bolsters, and other yoga props. Breathing practices are incorporated to assist in creating conditions of calm. Time is given in each posture to allow the body and mind to settle.
So, if you are tired of being tired, please consider trying something new. Restorative yoga classes are held on Tuesday nights at Sweet Tea Yoga 7:15-8:15 and at Salt MedSpa on Thursday evenings 6-7.
